Rag Rug Spring Tool
Rag Rug Spring Tool
The Ragged Life Rag Rug Spring Tool (sometimes known as a rag rugger or bodger) is the quickest and easiest tool to make shaggy (proggy) and short shaggy rag rugs.

What makes the Ragged Life Rag Rug Spring Tool so special?

Our tool is based on a vintage design that was perfected over decades. The Ragged Life spring tool was carefully crafted to incorporate all the best parts of the vintage design with a few modifications based on our years of rag rug experience. We now think that we've created the perfect tool for shaggy rag rugging.

With this tool, making proggy rag rugs has never been quicker and easier. With the Ragged Life Rag Rug Spring Tool, you can shaggy rag rug each piece with one action (as opposed to four motions with a prodder). This makes rag rugging with the spring tool quicker and easier than with other methods.
You work from the front of the hessian so you can see exactly how your rag rugging looks as and when you do it. This allows you to design and execute with confidence.

The slim, pointed end keeps your hessian in tip top condition. Other rag rug tools we've tried are bulky and create large holes in the hessian. Our Ragged Life Rag Rug Spring Tool slides easily into the hessian without damaging the weave.
Woollen Weaving Yarn
Woollen Weaving Yarn
These long strips are perfect for techniques of rag rugging, such as peg loom weaving, ribbon weaving, regular weaving, twining etc... , as well as other crafts such as knitting, crochet and sewing.

As usual, these beautiful yarns are sold in balls of 250g.

Why weaving yarn is great:
1) It's woven wool and excellent quality.

2) It comes pre-cut into strips, which saves on cutting time.

3) It's sustainable. Our weaving yarn is made from offcuts from blanket production in Yorkshire, so you can rest assured that every ball you use is less wastage going to landfill.

4) It goes far. Weaving yarn is thick, which means that your creation will be done in no time. We can make a peg loom woven runner in only a couple of hours using this weaving yarn.

Why Sari Silk Ribbon is great:
We've been trying to get our hands on some ethically-sourced sari silk ribbon for quite a while now for all the reasons below...

1) Silk is wonderful quality and looks amazing. As a fabric, silk is vibrant and rich in colour and texture. Its natural glow elevates any rag rug design or textile project. Silk will always be the star of the show and quality fabric lasts.

2) Sari silk ribbon comes pre-cut into strips, which saves time cutting. Sari silk ribbon is the perfect width for rug hooking using the loopy technique.

3) It's recycled. We're giving these offcuts a new lease of life and using them to create something both beautiful and practical.

4) Sari silk ribbon is light in weight, which makes it the perfect material for pictorial wall hangings, cushions, bouquets and more. It holds its shape very well, so makes beautiful 3D flowers.

5) Sari silk ribbon has wonderful texture. The frayed edges and handmade nature of the sari silk ribbon add interest and texture to your rag rugging with no extra effort.

6) Sari silk is never a flat colour. Each skein has lighter or darker hues and interesting accents. These add interest to your rag rugging with no extra work.

7) Sari silk ribbon can be used for all sorts of crafts. Knitting, crochet, weaving, appliqué, textile art... you can really get creative with it!
